Terms and Conditions for Day Trips

We ask that before booking with us that you read the following, as by placing a booking you will be entering into a binding contract which includes the terms and conditions below.

Bookings
Your place on any trip can initially be reserved by phone or e-mail. We will reserve your provisional place for up to 10 days after which your reservation will lapse if no payment has been received. A reservation is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from us.

Gift vouchers can be extended past the expiry date at a cost of  £10 per voucher.

Cancellation Charges
Notice of cancellation must be received in writing, and is only effective from the day of receipt of your notification.

If at any time you cancel your place on one of our tours you will lose the deposit paid as it is non-refundable.

If you cancel your booking 21 days or less from the commencement of the tour, and either you do not make a booking for a subsequent equivalent tour at the time of your cancellation, or we are unable to refill your place(s) on the tour, there will be a cancellation charge equivalent to 100% of the amount already paid.

For tours cancelled over 21 days before the tour, there will be no cancellation charges for the tour itself, other than the loss of your deposit, but as mentioned above.

Deposits paid for day trips are non-refundable upon cancellation, however they can be transferred to another day trip if re-booked at the time of cancellation. Please ensure that you notify us that you will not be participating on the day trip at least 2 hours before the tour is scheduled to commence, a phone call will suffice, to avoid us potentially making an unnecessary journey to the agreed destination.

To cover any cancellation costs that you may incur, or any other incidents that may arise during your tour, you are strongly advised to take out appropriate holiday and travel insurance.

Advertised cost of Tours
Unless otherwise stated in the advertised cost, the fee for a day trip will only cover the services of the guide during the day. You will be responsible for travel to, and in between sites if any, the cost of any lunch taken, plus any applicable parking, entrance or permit fees.

Complaints and Liability
In the unlikely event of your dissatisfaction at any aspect of the birdwatching trip, any complaints that you have should be brought to the attention of your leader at the time of the occurence of the incident and we will do our utmost to rectify any issues as soon as possible.

We accept no liability in respect of either loss or damage of, or to, personal effects, or for your personal injury, unless resulting from proven negligence of your tour leader. Clients are advised to obtain adequate insurance against personal loss and injury before travelling. Also given the cost of birdwatching equipment such as binoculars, telescopes and cameras etc, if your optics are not covered by your home insurance, then we would recommend that you take out cover to protect you against accidental damage to, or loss of your equipment, not only for your tour but for birdwatching in general.

Our right to cancel or alter advertised tours
We reserve the right to alter or cancel any tour advertised should matters beyond our control make it necessary to. These could include adverse weather conditions such as flooding, closure of the countryside following the imposing of an exclusion zone due to an animal disease outbreak, or the closure of reserves or any other land by the owners for any other reason. In such circumstances we will contact you and discuss any necessary changes with you and agree either an alternative schedule, to rearrange the tour at a later date or to cancel the tour completely. If an itinerary has to be changed by the leader while you are on a trip you must respect their professional decision.

Conduct of Participants
All instructions, especially regarding health and safety matters, that are given by the tour leader to the participants of the tour should be complied with at all times.

In the very unlikely event that any person participating on the tour is unable or unwilling to conduct themselves in a manner that will ensure the safe and satisfactory conducting of the tour, especially if their behavior is detrimental to the health and safety of either themselves or any of the other participants, or causes any disturbance to the birds that we are trying to see, we reserve the right, after issuing a warning regarding their conduct, to remove that person from the tour with immediate effect. If it does become necessary to remove any participant due to their unreasonable behavior, no refund will be issued in relation to the tour price already paid.

Due to the places that we visit, potential disturbance to birds, and to respect other birdwatchers, regrettably no dogs will be allowed on our tours.

Data Protection
We will hold on record the names, addresses and contact details of all the participants on our tours, we will not contact you to inform you of future tours or special offers etc. If you do wish to be contacted then please let us know. We will not pass your details on to any other person unless legally required to do so by law.
